Launched by the Government of Kerala in 2017, the Kairali Research Awards celebrate excellence in science, social sciences, arts, and humanities. The awards feature categories for postdoctoral researchers, faculty members, and lifetime achievers, recognizing impactful contributions to research and scholarship.

The Four-Year Undergraduate (FYUGP) offers a flexible, multidisciplinary education focusing on research, skill development and holistic growth of a learner. Students can pursue majors and minors across disciplines, gaining knowledge and employability aims to create well-rounded graduates ready for careers or higher education. Kerala has adopted FYUGP in all its higher education institutions from the year 2024-25.

The Erudite Programme, initiated by KSHEC, brings distinguished scholars—including Nobel Laureates—to universities across Kerala. These scholars deliver lectures, engage with students and faculty, and promote research collaboration, significantly enriching the state's higher education ecosystem.

KSHEC offers scholarships and financial assistance to meritorious and deserving students as part of its commitment to equity and excellence in higher education. Empowered by Act 22 of 2007, the Council provides scholarships, freeships, and other forms of support to ensure that academic talent is nurtured, regardless of financial constraints.

The Kerala State Higher Education Council conducts hands-on workshops on the MOODLE-based Learning Management System (LMS) in online mode. These sessions are designed for faculty members of higher education institutions across the state.
Heads of Institutions (Colleges and University Departments) are encouraged to make use of this opportunity by submitting the list of faculty members who wish to participate.

Surveys at both the state and national levels are crucial tools for shaping the future of higher education. They provide comprehensive data on key indicators such as student enrolment, faculty strength, infrastructure, academic performance, and research output.
At the national level, the All India Survey on Higher Education (AISHE) offers a detailed snapshot of the sector’s growth and challenges.At the State level, All Kerala Higher Education Survey(AKHES) captures localized insights, helping stakeholders make informed decisions, bridge gaps, and implement policies that enhance quality, access, and equity in higher education.

The Kerala State Higher Education Council (KSHEC) Faculty Development Programme (FDP) is a program that provides advanced training to faculty members to improve the quality of teaching and learning in the state's universities and affiliated institutions.

In line with UGC guidelines, our undergraduate programmes follow the Choice Based Credit and Semester System (CBCS) along with the Outcome Based Education (OBE) framework. These systems ensure flexibility, academic rigor, and updated course content, enabling students to tailor their learning paths while meeting well-defined educational outcomes.

The 'Brain Gain' programme facilitates the visit of eminent non-resident Indian professors—particularly those from Kerala—to engage with higher education institutions in the state. These scholars participate as ‘Scholars-in-Residence’ for short-term teaching and academic activities, contributing their global expertise to local institutions. The initiative is seamlessly integrated with the ‘Erudite Scholar-in-Residence Programme’, enhancing its reach and impact.

KSHEC, in collaboration with the Digital University of Kerala(DUK), launched the Let’s Go Digital initiative to train faculty members in the use of the Moodle Learning Management System (LMS). To date, over 100 colleges have benefited from this training.
DUK also provides LMS services through the Digicol platform and is planning the establishment of a dedicated data centre. Institutions can apply for both basic and advanced levels of training through KSHEC.

KSHEC’s digital learning portal provides access to over 3,000 e-resources for undergraduate and postgraduate students across Kerala. Developed in collaboration with faculty, the platform ensures easy and effective access to study materials.
Future enhancements include expanding the repository to over 5,000 resources, enabling real-time course access, and establishing a state-level research repository.
